Making SEJ Services Accessible: Pro bono & Sliding Scale Options

Taking care of your mental health is vital, but at the SEJ we know that financial barriers can often get in the way. We believe everyone deserves access to support when they need it most. To help make that possible, we through the ‘Stay Mentally Healthy’ initiative encourage all our qualified SEJ Consultants and Trainers to offer a portion of their private practice to offering flexible, lower-cost, and free options.

Our "Stay Mentally Healthy" initiative offers a variety of free and donation-based core services and workshops to help meet your current needs. However, if you are interested in a specific paid service or event and are on a low income and struggling with your mental health we invite you to complete the below application form. Please note that to be eligible for assessment, applicants must meet the criteria: have a low household income and currently struggling with mild to moderate mental health conditions.

If you would prefer a printed version of the form, you may request one by selecting the contact link in the menu above and submitting the contact form.

Once your application is received, your assigned SEJ service provider will contact you within five working days to invite you for a Wellbeing Assessment and to discuss your request. While we aim to complete the full review as quickly as possible, please allow up to 15 working days for final processing.

How your SEJ Consultant and Trainer Can Help:

  • Income-Based Sliding Scale: If standard consulting or training fees are out of reach, your consultant/trainer can adjust your per-session and training rate based on your household income. This is a great fit if you have some flexibility but cannot afford standard private practice rates.

  • Pro Bono (Free) Slots: Your consultant/trainer reserves a limited number of completely free spaces for individuals facing severe financial hardship who otherwise have no way to access our SEJ services and events.

How It Works:

  • Availability: Because our SEJ Consultants and Trainers are solo practitioners, their spots are limited and depend on their current caseload.

  • Application Process: They will discuss your financial situation and wellbeing goals during a brief, confidential ‘Stay Mentally Healthy’ Wellbeing Assessment.

  • The Agreement: To keep things fair and sustainable, your consultant/trainer will occasionally check in to see how the arrangement is working for you and if your financial situation or their capacity has shifted.

If you would like to inquire about current availability for this service, please reach out via our online application form below.

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Accessible SEJ Services Application Form

Because these services are limited and reserved for those who need them most, we use an honour system alongside a simple verification process to ensure things remain fair and sustainable for everyone.

To help us find the right path forward for you, we will ask you about the following:

  1. Your current employment status (e.g., full-time, part-time, student, or currently seeking work).

  2. Your estimated total monthly household income.

  3. If you are seeking a pro bono (free) slot or a reduced sliding-scale rate.

(Note: Once your consultant agrees a rate that fits your budget, they generally ask clients to share a recent pay slip, benefit evidence, or tax return just to finalise their paperwork, but the initial 'Stay Mentally Healthy' Wellbeing Assessment is entirely based on trust). The assessment also gives your SEJ Consultant the opportunity to make sure they are a good match for you and to comfortably talk through their services, your requirements and the financial logistics together.

Is your total household on a low income? PLEASE NOTE: You may be asked at your Wellbeing Assessment to provide additional financial information including proof of earnings.
